The Past Indefinite and Past Continuous Tense 一般過去時(shí)和過去進(jìn)行時(shí)

　　1. 一般過去時(shí)表示在確定的過去時(shí)間里所發(fā)生的動(dòng)作或存在的狀態(tài)，也可表示在過去一段時(shí)間內(nèi)，經(jīng)常性或習(xí)慣性的動(dòng)作。When I was a child, I often played football in the street.

　　2. 過去進(jìn)行時(shí)表示過去某時(shí)正在進(jìn)行的狀態(tài)或動(dòng)作。過去進(jìn)行時(shí)的主要用法是描述一件事發(fā)生的背景；一個(gè)長(zhǎng)動(dòng)作發(fā)生的時(shí)候，另一個(gè)短動(dòng)作發(fā)生。As he was reading the newspaper, Granny fell asleep在他看報(bào)紙時(shí)，奶奶睡著了。

　　3. 應(yīng)特別注意兩個(gè)時(shí)態(tài)的區(qū)別：They watched the train until it disappeared. (一般過去時(shí)表示watch動(dòng)作已結(jié)束) She was writing a book about China last year but I dont know whether she has finished it. 過去進(jìn)行時(shí)不表示write動(dòng)作已結(jié)束) I dont think Jim saw me; he was just staring into space. (過去進(jìn)行時(shí)表示過去某時(shí)正在進(jìn)行的狀態(tài)或動(dòng)作)
